Althea Stentiford

Born and bred in Edinburgh, Althea has been part of the Edinburgh & Glasgow music and theatre scene for over two decades. Influenced by many music genres, she is an eclectic singer, songwriter and music teacher, playing both piano and guitar. In the early 90’s, Althea could regularly be spotted on the cabaret circuit as one half of the duo ‘The Harmony Angels’ and fronting the indie rock bands ‘Honey Beretta’ and ‘Siren’ who performed her original songs. Althea also relishes the role of backing vocalist and has toured with Elaine C Smith, provided B.V.s for Edwin Starr, Sheila Ferguson, and regularly appears with singer songwriter Lorna Brooks, who supported Candi Staton in 2010.

Althea has recently been fronting the all-female funk band (with one suspicious drag member!) ‘Mocha Latte’ and at present she is working on new material to celebrate a landmark birthday, due out in 2014. As this goes to press, Althea is excited about learning to play ukulele and how to live with a shoe fetish for which sadly there is no cure.
