HELLO THERE AND WELCOME.
Firstly, many apologies to those of you who did not receive the March 2013 PMC e-newsletter (especially those of you in the Pathhead Choir who missed the first session). A technical glitch occurred, and we have subsequently changed over the newsletter software.
PMC LOCAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Pathhead Music Collective is offering four annual music education scholarships for budding local musicians. Local vocal tutor and singer-songwriter Sophie Bancroft says “Last year PMC offered sponsored one-to-one singing lessons for the superb young local singer and Pathhead Youth Project Talent Competition winner Morgan Welsh. Anyone who saw her perform at last year’s Cool Yule concert in the village hall will know how much she’s matured over the year as a musician and a performer, and continues to go from strength to strength”. “There are so many potentially gifted local singers and musicians who don’t have access to education opportunities right now” says Pathhead based fiddler and teacher Amy Geddes. “All of the PMC members are really passionate about making music education accessible and affordable in our community”.
An external jury made up of committee members from the PYP and PDCA will select one budding musician from each age category:
7 to 11 year olds; 12 to 16 year olds; 17 to 21 year olds; and over 22s.
PMC can offer lessons in singing, guitar, bass, fiddle, piano, harp, drums and percussion.
The scholarship fund is supported by income raised from local PMC-run family ceilidhs. The PMC is also looking for local business support or patronage.
To apply for the scholarship, please a write a letter explaining why you would like to receive the scholarship, what instrument you are keen to learn, your age, address, phone and email contact, and please email to email@example.com or post to PMC, 32 Main Street, Pathhead, EH37 5QB. The deadline for applications is the 30th April 2013 (REVISED DEADLINE).
There is still time to fill out our online questionnaire at http://pathheadmusiccollective.org.uk/questionnaire/ – deadline 17th April 2013.
EXCITING NEWS FROM THE PDCA
A community craft cafe will start in May in Pathhead Village Hall thanks to a £10,000 grant from the Communities and Families Fund (Big Lottery) and the Tynewater magazine will be available in local outlets from the end of April at a cost of 25p. All proceeds go to Pathhead Village Hall, a registered charity.
If you know anyone who would be interested in receiving the PMC newsletter, please ask them to email via the website.
With best wishes
