Mattie Foulds

Producer, engineer and musician Mattie Foulds has had a long musical life starting back when he was playing in bars and pubs before it was legal for him to even enter them. Mainly a musician and performer, Mattie has had a very natural progression into record production and engineering.

Mattie has spent over 20 years as a session musician for some of the stars of the Canadian and UK folk and singer/songwriter world’s including Natalie Mac Master, Sharron Shannon, Bruce Guthro, Ashley MacIsaac, Gordie Sampson, Phil Cunningham, Karine Polwart, Kate Rusby, Eliza Carthy and Aidan O’Rourke. He started honing his skills as a record producer on Karine Polwart’s debut, Faultlines, that won Record of The Year at the 2005 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Since then he has gone on to produce or co-produce all of Karine’s output as well as records for Kim Edgar, Bella Hardy, Annlaug Borsheim, The Burns Unit and a host of others.

As an engineer Mattie has learned from day one from his big brother Jamie and the many brilliant engineer’s throughout his recording career. Mattie’s been lucky enough to record some incredible musician along the way, including Martin Green, Corrina Hewat, John McCusker, Kris Drever, Dave Milligan, Phil Bancroft, Angus Mac Kenzie, Tom Cawley and Kevin Mac Kenzie among many, many others.

Mobile With A Home has been another natural progression for Mattie. From recording demos and singles for pals in his spare room to really pushing the boat out in terms of investment in top end equipment and a personal focus on production and engineering. MWAH has purchased some industry leading equipment from this decade as well as vintage pieces that allow us to capture your performance with the reality it deserves.
